RUF 69 Weigh-In Report: Scales Are Done, Fight Night Is Set

The Celebrity Theatre was buzzing last night as fighters hit the scales for RUF 69. No drama, no missed weights, just a room full of focused athletes ready to throw down tomorrow. Everyone looked sharp, hydrated, and locked in. Amateur Card Things kick off with a pair of lightweights. Carlos Moreno makes his debut, stepping into the cage for the first time under our coverage, against Marcos Gamez. Gamez is looking to bounce back after a TKO loss at RUF 65 last November and will want to show he learned from it. Next is an amateur flyweight debut for both men. Isidro Benavidez, a 5'5" newcomer, faces Manuel Medina, who also makes his first appearance in our coverage. The 175 lb catchweight puts Nate Brown, a 31-year-old making his debut, against Samuel Dalton. Dalton stands 6'3", carries a real reach advantage, and wants back in the win column after a TKO loss to Jax Stam at RUF 62. From there, Robert Mendoza, coming off a decision loss at RUF 64, meets JoJo Griffin at a 150 lb catchweight. Griffin, 27, is also chasing a rebound after a TKO loss at RUF 61. Someone gets back on track. Someone takes another step back. The women's bantamweight bout brings Morgan Lucio back for the first time since a TKO loss at WVR 1 in 2019. That is a long layoff. She draws Tehya Swarts, 1-0 and new to our coverage. Ring rust against momentum. Pro Card The pro side opens at heavyweight. Niko Kittrell, 6'3", makes his RUF debut after a decision win at Empire Championship Series in March. He faces Malik Besseck, a 1-1 pro making his first appearance under our coverage. Malique Lee, 2-2, takes on Alex Martinez at a 160 lb catchweight. Martinez, 5'10", hasn't fought since his submission win at RUF 52 in February 2023, so the question is whether the edge is still there after that time off. Co-Main Event Bantamweight, and one of the sharper matchups on paper. Jean Tejena, 4-5, against Alex Preissing, a perfect 3-0. Preissing, 27, is coming off a submission win at RUF 68 just last month and is rolling. Tejena's job is to stop it cold. Main Event Esteban Gonzalez, 5-3, meets Ryan Ocasio, 5-1, at a 126 lb catchweight. Neither has been on our coverage before, but the records speak for themselves. Two hungry pros, high level, and it should be a fast, technical fight to close the night. What to Watch Tomorrow Tomorrow night at the Celebrity Theatre, expect serious action.
